Do you not know that the runners in the stadium all run in the race, but only one wins the prize? Run so as to win. Every athlete exercises discipline in every way. They do it to win a perishable crown, but we an imperishable one. Thus I do not run aimlessly; I do not fight as if I were shadowboxing. No, I drive my body and train it, for fear that, after having preached to others, I myself should be disqualified. - 1 Cor 9:24-27

9 miles wasn't enough

What?  "9 miles wasn't enough"  To hear that thought in my head feels like someone else saying it.  It was true this morning though.  This week is a recovery week for my marathon training.  'Only' nine miles for my long run instead of double digits.

Yesterday, the children had a difficult time listening and obeying.  Dear husband has been working so much the past few months that I feel like a single mom.  He's been working on three R&D projects ... not one, but three all due in a short amount of time.

I'm so thankful that I started running over a year ago.  Running has helped me physically, emotionally, and spiritually.  I can spend miles talking over with God what is going on in my life.  This morning, I could have used a few more miles.  Looking forward to Monday's run, Wednesday's tempo run, Thursday run, and Saturday's long run.

Winter Carnival 2011

"Thousands of Pages Unfold in the Bitter Cold" was the theme for this year's Winter Carnival at the university that my husband and I met.  Each year, the students build snow and ice sculptures ... what else is one to do with all the snow?

The temperature was a warm 38 degrees.

Finalized my training schedule

I'm finally happy with my training schedule.

With training plans from many different sources (Smart Coach, Hal Higdon, Run Like a Mother), I put together one just for me.  One of my goals this year is to remain injury free.  I focused on building up my mileage for the marathon slowly and having a recovery week every three weeks.  I'm more concerned with finishing injury free than time.  I will admit though that my pace does get me down some.  Need to stop comparing myself to others....

At the top of my blog, there's a new page with my training plan.
