Do you not know that the runners in the stadium all run in the race, but only one wins the prize? Run so as to win. Every athlete exercises discipline in every way. They do it to win a perishable crown, but we an imperishable one. Thus I do not run aimlessly; I do not fight as if I were shadowboxing. No, I drive my body and train it, for fear that, after having preached to others, I myself should be disqualified. - 1 Cor 9:24-27

One Year Anniversary of Running!

November 12, 2009, I started a run / walk program.  Thirty minutes later, I finished 1.8 miles.  A 16:40 pace.  All this was done in my dark basement.  I used the PodRunner:  Couch to 5K on my iPod to let me know when to transition from walking to running.

I've looked and looked for a picture of me before I started this journey.  I tend to take all the pictures so there are very few of me.  These two are the only ones I could find:

Yesterday, I ran my 'long' route of 4.0 miles.

Stats:
Feb. 6:  58:51 (14:43 pace)
Mar. 20:  48:42  (12:10 pace)
Apr. 12:  45:28  (11:22 pace)
May 17:  44:54  (11:14 pace)
June 17:  44:09  (11:03) ... now classified as easy run in my training log
July 6:    44:11  (11:02)
Nov. 11:  43:44  (10:56)

Mr. T took this picture of me this summer.  The fence in the background is what I was working on the summer before in the picture above.  You can notice a big difference in my face.

  2. I am SO proud of you, and you can be so proud of the great running year you have had! I absolutely LOVE the stats, I think that is just such huge, to be able to step back and look at one's accomplishments & goals set and met. I especially love the calories burned ;-). Is that from your Garmin?
